A famous picnic spot on the island, Dhanushkodi is also an important pilgrim spot on the Rameswaram Island. The name Dhanushkodi literally means the end of the bow and is spot where Lord Ram built the famous bridge with floating stones. The southernmost tip of the rameswaram island is called Dhanushkodi. It was completely washed away by a cyclone in 1964. But the Kothandaramasamy Temple here remains intact. It is 18 KMs way from Rameswaram can be reached by road. A popular belief is that, it is where Vibishana a brother of Ravana surrendered before Rama. Dhanushkodi has a fine beach, where Sea surfing is possible.

Pamban Bridge

Pamban Bridge

Pamban Bridge is a railway bridge which connects the town of Mandapam in mainland India with Pamban Island, and Rameswaram. Opened on 24 February 1914, it was India's first sea bridge, and was the longest sea bridge in India until the opening of the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in 2010. The rail bridge is, for the most part, a conventional bridge resting on concrete piers, but has a double-leaf bascule section midway, which can be raised to let ships and barges pass through. Until 1988, the Pamban bridge was the only surface transport that connected Tamil Nadu's island of Rameswaram to the mainland. In December 2018, the bascule of this bridge was damaged, which suspended transportation on the bridge for 3 months. Rail movement was again restored on 27 February 2019.

Guna Cave

Guna Cave

Guna Caves or initially named as The Devil's Kitchen, is a cave located in Kodaikanal. The cave hole was first recorded in 1821 by British officer B.S. Ward, who named it The Devil’s Kitchen but remained in obscurity until the late 1980s. The caves however shot to fame after the movie “Guna” was shot here. The hit song ‘Kanmani anbodu kadhalan’ in the movie was shot in the cave and ever since, the place has been celebrated by movie lovers.
